Assessment-Based Membership

IBACTP® Chartered Membership is designed for experienced technology professionals seeking a higher level of professional recognition based on demonstrated competency.

Unlike Professional Membership, Chartered Membership requires applicants to successfully demonstrate competence through an approved assessment pathway.

Chartered Membership Assessment Options

• Option 1 — Certification Examination

Eligible candidates may complete an applicable IBACTP® certification examination.

• The standard examination framework is:
• 100 Multiple-Choice Questions
• 90 Minutes
• 70% Passing Score
• OR
• Option 2 — Approved Capstone Project

Where authorized for the applicable Chartered pathway, candidates may demonstrate competency through an approved Capstone Project.

A Capstone Project may require candidates to analyze or respond to a realistic:

• business problem;
• technical challenge;
• cybersecurity scenario;
• AI implementation challenge;
• data problem;
• technology transformation initiative;
• cloud architecture requirement;
• digital-forensics investigation;
• DevSecOps challenge;
• governance problem;
• risk-management scenario; or

organizational technology case.

• What the Capstone May Assess
• The Capstone assessment may evaluate:
• professional knowledge;
• analytical ability;
• application of professional competencies;
• technical accuracy;
• problem-solving;
• professional judgment;
• risk awareness;
• ethical considerations;
• quality of recommendations;
• communication;
• organization;
• practical application; and

overall professional quality.
